This year the Society will be holding a Horse and Livestock Show. On Saturday there will be classes for Hunters, Riding Horses, Coloureds, Veterans and Driving, together with a full day of Showjumping. On the Sunday there will be Mountain & Moorland Ponies, Hunter Ponies, Leading Rein and First Ridden and, again, a full day of Showjumping. In addition, there will be displays by Shetland Ponies, Scurry Driving and the Driving for the Disabled Group. Livestock Classes for cattle, sheep and pigs will be taking place on the Sunday and the Poultry Club will be attending. Other attractions include a display by Gundogs and a Dog Show. The I.W. Foxhounds and the I.W. Beagles will be parading on each day. There will be a limited number of trade stands on the showground and refreshments will be available. Entry to the showground will be free but a bucket collection will be made for donations.
Schedules can be downloaded from this website and are available at the Show Office, Central House 48-49 High Street, Newport, The NFU Offices, Gunville Road and the usual equine outlets. The Livestock schedules can be picked up from the NFU Offices.
All the classes have been kindly sponsored by local firms and individuals. All proceeds from the event will be awarded to students attending agricultural college to help with their expenses. Last year 8 students applied for these grants and were awarded £500.00 each |
